Deskrawl Gear and Affixes: Keep, Test, or Sell

A green number is not a build. Compare every item against your damage type, skill rotation, survival problem, set direction, and the cost of breaking a working twelve-slot setup.

Read an item in five passes

  1. Check whether the base and item level are appropriate for the content.
  2. Identify which equipped skill or damage type can use each affix.
  3. Separate always-on bonuses from conditions such as healthy, elite, stunned, or bleeding.
  4. Count the rune/set connection you lose by unequipping the old item.
  5. Test survival and clear time on the same map before investing scarce materials.

Sort affixes by the job they perform

Direct damageFlat damage, class stat, physical or elemental scaling that matches the active build.
CadenceAttack speed, cooldown, or resource flow that changes how often the useful skill fires.
Conditional damageBonuses against elites, healthy enemies, or a status target; value depends on uptime.
SustainLife, recovery, life on hit, mana, or defensive layers that prevent idle deaths.
UtilityMovement, loot, gold, or farming convenience that matters only after the run is stable.

Answer the confusing stat-language questions first

“Healthy enemy” normally describes a target above a health threshold; it is not a permanent enemy type. “Arcane Damage” should only be valued when a skill, proc, or effect actually deals Arcane damage. Attack speed matters only if the animation, resource loop, and trigger can benefit from more attacks.

When the tooltip is unclear, change one variable. Equip the candidate item, keep the map and companion fixed, and compare several waves. Do not rebuild three slots at once and then guess which stat helped.

Use a keep, test, sell decision

Keep and equipIt improves the current bottleneck without breaking a stronger rune or legendary interaction.
Keep for testingIt enables a second damage type, future difficulty, or coherent alternate build.
Store as evidenceThe wording is unusual or patch-sensitive and deserves a controlled comparison.
Sell or tradeIt has no current or planned synergy and occupies space needed for higher-value tests.

Upgrade after the build earns the cost

“Clad in Legend” requires Legendary-or-better gear in all twelve equipment slots, while “Forged to Perfection” requires one item at +10. Those achievements are goals, not instructions to upgrade the first Legendary that drops.

Prioritize an item whose base, affixes, and set role are already aligned. Stop before a costly tier if the item is only filling a temporary slot. The best protection against upgrade regret is a repeatable test route and one unspent fallback item.

Source and confidence note

The official achievements confirm twelve equipment slots, Legendary-or-better milestones, and a +10 upgrade target. Affix priorities come from current community build guides and are decision examples rather than universal best-in-slot rules.
